Don't Focus On Failure

By By Paul Jerard

Internal defeat is a state of mind, where you begin to believe that most new ideas will fail. You might think -"After all, what I tried in last week's Yoga class, failed."

You will always learn from mistakes. When you see them clearly as a test, examine the results, and study them closely for the reason why they went wrong.

Whether it is a lesson plan, trying mantras, Hot Yoga, Gentle Yoga, a pro shop, or trying anything new, it is better to make mistakes than do nothing at all.

Some of the most successful Yoga teachers, I know, deal with mistakes as part of the learning curve. They turn all of their defeats into learning experiences. This is extremely powerful when you consider the cost of learning anything of value.

After all, what did you spend on your education, so far? Did you think you would stop learning at a certain point in life? Did you learn from your past mistakes? Of course you did, and now you are stronger due to the corrective adjustments, you have made.

When a child learns to ride a bicycle, there are plenty of falls along the way, and then the falling stops. However, even skilled adults fall off bicycles, sometimes.

So, don't take past failures

Over the years I have changed my exercise routine continuously. That wasn't exactly planned, but it probably kept my interest up. I started with twice-a-week through Adult Education at the local junior high school. That was simple non-impact bending. That was too easy. Then I moved into Jazzercise, which was high impact. I began to really enjoy that. But it was only offered twice-a-week. My energy level blossomed. I now am up to six days per week, and sometimes even that isn't enough!

I joined many health clubs over the years. After the highschool routine, which got dull after a while, I needed tofind something that would allow more days of exercising. It had to fit my schedule, since I've always worked fulltime. There's no choice there! Adult Education classes areonly offered during the week for the most part

Think Vintage For Your Garden

By By Martin Swinton

Container gardeners take note. Tired of clay pots? Think vintage, because when you do, there'll be lots to choose from. Most likely vintage items will be worn and chipped which will only add charm to your garden.

Raid the Bathroom.

Forget about a relaxing soak in the tub. Vintage claw-foot bathtubs can be a gardener's delight. They work well because they are big and deep so they can hold a lot of flowers plus all that earth will retain moisture. Just make sure that you are happy with where you've positioned them because once full of soil, they'll be too heavy to move.

Search the Garage.

Galvanized pails and watering cans can make great planters. Vintage bicycles with wired baskets to hold flowers are eye-catching.

Go to the Kitchen.

Enamelware – wash basins, pots, colanders, teakettles - work well in the garden because enamelware can handle the elements. Plus any rust or chips simply add character. Even the kitchen sink can add some whimsy

Six-fictions-about-bicycle-commuting
By Tim Levin
Riding is a solid, secure, sporty and low-priced manner to get about—and it happens to be beneficial exercise, as well. Still, fictions about cycle commuting hold out. Here are six I've picked up over time

1. It's too risky. Yes, there's authentic hazard associated with riding. Cyclists do smash and get slamed by motorcars. But how risky is pedaling in similarity with other methods of transit and with our perception of the risk? A less than you might think.

Consider the studies of a firm that undertakes safety and failure testing, once known as the Failure Group and now known as Exponent. The firm looked at a selection of past-times and worked out that the number of deaths per 1,000,000 hrs of exposure was 0.26 for pedaling, 0.47 for driving, 1.53 for living (all causes of death), and 8.80 for motorbiking. To put it another way, they discovered that the hazards of pedaling were roughly 50% that connected with driving and 15% of that connected with simply with being alive.

Disappointingly, the exact methods Exponent used are proprietary, and the complete paper isn't available to the general public, but rest assured that this isn't a fly-by-night riders' advocacy organization that is making up the numbers. As the company details on its website, it has been relied on to examine high-profile accidents like the destruction of the federal offices in Oklahoma City.

So, for the reason of discussion, let us claim that the Failure Associates analysis is an underestimation and consider another extensive study that measures the risks using a slightly different yardstick—the count of kills per billions of kilometers moved instead of per hour of activity. The Rutgers University researchers who undertook this work concluded that, per kilometer traveled, cycling kills are eleven times as high as car occupant deaths. Seems pretty grim for cycling until you review what the same review found about walking. Pedestrian kills per kilometer traveled were 36 times as high as driving deaths, suggesting that walking is more than three times as dangerous as cycling.

That said, there's always more that cyclists can do to take responsibility for our safety. A disturbing 24 percent of deadly bike accidents involve an drunken cyclist. Study shows that riders get into lots of smaller accidents that could be prevented. Various studies have shown that the failure to use lights at night or a helmet significantly increases a biker's risk. Finally, riders starting out must be especially careful about drivers opening doors and making turns, and about riding on the pavements.

The bottom line: It's not that biking doesn't have danger, but a little perspective is in required, especially when you begin to factor in the many health benefits that biking provides.

2. It's a long way. The cycle may well take too long or take too much energy if you live further than, say, 12 miles from work. But consider ways to expand your maximum range. Many commuters, for example, use foldable bikes so they can go partway on a morning train.

3. I'll need an pricey bicycle. Wrong. You should be able to come across a new or used cycle suitable for simple commuting for less than $500. Find a good, local bicycle store with a knowledgeable staff, explain the terrain and length of ride you're considering, and they'll help you choose the proper frame and number of gears you'll need.

If you're just starting out,

An-overview-of-bike-crash-accidents-and-bike-crash-lawyers-in-la
By Lala C. Ballatan
In Los Angeles, where there are many places teeming with pedestrians and cyclists, lawyers that are specializing or are knowledgeable in handling bicycle accidents like bike crashes, are not too hard to find. The only criteria to retain the best are experience and knowledge of the bicycle accident and personal injury laws.

Pedestrians and bicycle riders are usually very vulnerable to sustaining injuries or being killed because of accidents wherein motor vehicles crash, collides or rub over bicycles. The problem is that, even if the cyclist is riding lawfully in the crosswalk or on the green "walk" sign, some car or other vehicle drivers are oblivious of them.

Other drivers are not even aware that their vehicles have rubbed over or hit a bicycle. Some are not aware of the rights of bicyclists on the roads and this ignorance leads to them not being more careful around bicycles in general.

Ever since 2004, the NHTSA or National Highway Traffic Safety Administration released information that there were more or less 5,000 deaths reported as a result of automobile versus pedestrian or bicycle accidents.

The fact that annually, there are more than 78,000 pedestrians and bicycle riders who sustain injuries show that a lot of drivers still have to be educated about being extra careful. In a bicycle crash, the cyclist is the one who suffer greatly, more than the vehicle drivers do. There are no seatbelts, roll cage and air bags.

If you have been injured as a result of a car versus bike crash accident, under the California laws, you are granted with the considerable rights to be compensated for the expenses you incurred and the pain and suffering you felt.

You can be compensated of the medical expenses, future medical treatments and expenses, property damages, lost income, pain and suffering, loss of enjoyment in life for the future, and/or temporary or permanent disability. You can also be granted with punitive damages, wherein the liable and at fault party is directed to give payment as a punishment and warning for their carelessness, ignorance of the laws, and/or obliviousness.

The-accessories-of-the-beach-cruiser
By Alice Shown
What are beach cruisers?

Beach cruisers are the most excellent bikes which are liked by the youngsters and the elderly alike. They are bought essentially by those people who are interested in riding anything that is elegant and out of the way so that others may admire it. Thus, beach cruisers are their natural choice. The beach cruisers are provided with a wide number of accessories. The accessories include the following:

•Bicycle locks: They are the part and parcel of the beach cruiser bicycle (as a matter of fact they are important part of all types of bicycles). The bicycle locks must be hard and durable. They should be able to keep the bicycle in proper place once the ride is not in seat. The locks are specially designed and have a great tensile strength.

•Bicycle valve caps: These are essential to maintain the valves of the bicycle. They are mainly available in various colors but people prefer the deep color because they don't get soiled easily and the color is retained even after a long period of time.

•Bicycle helmets: They are perhaps the most important things and people generally tries to avoid them but wear them just to save their pockets from a heavy drainage once they are caught by police. The helmets are of various designs and colors. The colors of the helmets vary from deep metallic tinge to common shades.

•Mirrors: The mirrors will help you to see your back. Generally the vehicle mirrors are concave mirrors and inverted images are available. The mirrors are of various shapes and the rods which holes the mirrors are meant to provide an extra elegance to the bicycle.

•Seats: The bicycle seats are the most useful parts of a rider and the seats of the beach cruiser bicycles are adjustable. They can be made taller or shorter with the help of the attached rod. The seats come in different colors and are designed to give optimum support to the rider. You can choose from the dark colored ones and the light colored seats. Along with the seats you can also select the different seat covers.

•Grip: The grips of the beach bicycle not only provide support to the rider but also enable him to change the gears whenever he wants to. The grips are of great importance to the rider since current beach cruisers comes with modern technologies where the gears are attached with the grip.

Why-you-need-bicycle-crash-lawyers-in-california
By Jinky Belle Abelardo
There are people who prefer to ride the bicycle than other kinds of vehicles because of safety issues. Some even use bikes as their major means of transportation. Some use bicycles for fitness purposes, while some ride them as a form of leisure.

Though biking truly has its benefits, it has its downside too. It could cause major harm, physical injury for example, especially if people neglect safety precautions while riding a bike. But sometimes, no matter how much bikers try to avoid tragic scenarios, nor how much safety measures they practice, bicyclists are still not free from risks.

Despite the fact that bicycle crashes create only a small size of vehicular accidents, they often result to the most serious injuries. Since a bicycle offers only minimal protection to its rider, almost every part of the body may be vulnerable to wounds.

Majority of bicycle accidents account to the negligence of other drivers on the road. When a driver suddenly makes a turn, or pulls back or out of a road or driveway, or opens his or her car door without checking for passing bicyclists, an accident will likely happen.

In the event of an accident resulting in death, a wrongful death action can be made against the party at fault.

When deciding to sue someone for the injuries you have sustained, or for the death of a loved one, because of the negligence of another, it is helpful to get an attorney.

That is why there are lawyers in California who specializes with cases like these. You can seek their help if you, or any family member or friend, gets involved in a bicycle accident.

California bicycle crash lawyers can certainly help you recover from damages caused to you by the accident. They can help you sue the negligent party if they were truly at fault. You will not have trouble getting just compensation if you were able to get a good attorney.

Your bicycle crash lawyer would also know if there is other, negligent parties to blame for the accident. Your claims may also uphold to other persons accountable to the bicycle crash, such as the other automobiles; the State and the City of Los Angeles; the private property owners; the bicycle manufacturers; the repair shop; and the

Invention-of-the-bicycle-and-cycling

Invention of the Bicycle and Cycling

Bicycles nowadays are taken for granted, but they have not always been around. Here we take a look at the development of the bicycle and the popularity of cycling.

In almost every home in the world there is a bicycle. I am sure we can all remember our very first bicycle, and how we learned to cycle.
My own first bicycle was green, and I still remember the day my father took me to the park to hold on to the back of my bicycle so that I could cycle along the footpath. Suddenly I realised that Dad was not running along beside me! I was cycling alone. Oh the joy, I had finally managed to ride my lovely green bicycle. I was SO happy, I fell off! But as they say once you know how to ride a bicycle, this skill never leaves you, so back I got on my bicycle, to ride home to tell my mother what I had achieved. It was a wonderful day.

Most children own a bicycle, it gives them a taste of independence. As they get older they can cycle to visit their friends and to school, thus relieving their parents of the job of taxi driver.

In fact bicycles only appeared about 170 years ago. The very first bicycle was, invented less than a mile from the park in S W Scotland, where I learned to cycle. It was a cumbersome thing weighing around 57 pounds, made of wood with iron wheel rims.

What do hobby horses and bicycles have in common?

In the 19th century hobby horses were very popular toys. A Blacksmith, Kirkpatrick Macmillan, observed a child playing on a hobby horse, and resolved to make one for himself. He considered the effort involved in making this move along, and came up with the idea of adding pedals to move the back wheel. This evolved into the prototype of the first bicycle.

He became a familiar sight riding his bicycle along the rutted country roads of S W Scotland. Gaining in confidence he went on a journey of over 60 miles to Glasgow which took him 2 days. Upon arrival there, he ran over a child and became the first person to be fined (five shillings) for speeding. It is believed that

Bicycle-laws-and-safety-guidelines
By Manuel Salvacion
Each year, hundreds are killed and thousand others get injured in bicycle-related accidents in Los Angeles. Many of these accidents involved collisions with other vehicles and pedestrians while others are caused by traffic rule violations.

To avoid accidents and protect yourself, it is necessary to know the important rules governing bicycle riding and tips on what to do in case of an accident. This also includes state laws governing bicycles.

Bicycle Laws

Under the California bicycle law, every person riding a bicycle has "all the rights and are subject to all duties applicable to the driver of a vehicle, including the provisions dealing with driving under the influence of alcoholic beverages or drugs."

Besides the required wearing of helmets, a bicycle rider must also remember some important provisions of the bicycle law:

•A bicycle must be equipped with a brake

•A bicycle must have a handle bar raised only to the required level

•At night, a bicycle must be equipped with a white light and other reflector device.

The law also requires other motorists to assist and give way to bicycle riders while on the road as a matter of road courtesy.

If you get yourself involved in a serious bicycle accident, it is important to follow these guidelines:

•Seek immediate medical attention
•If other persons are involved, call 911. Report the number of individuals injured, their conditions, and request medical attention.
•Exchange information with all parties involved in the accident. This includes, name, address, telephone number, driver's license number, insurance provider, and insurance policy number.
•Get statements from witnesses of the accident.
•Take down notes on the accident, including weather conditions, traffic,
road conditions, traffic lights, speed, outside distractions, etc.
•Take pictures of the accident and any injuries you may have obtained
•Give a full report to the police, but do not point blame. Just give the facts.
•Get medical attention immediately, and get copies of all records. Include information and records on rehabilitation sessions, surgeries, visits, and medications.
•Call an experienced bicycle accident attorney as soon as possible to pursue your claim.

Mountain-bike-for-the-bike-with-a-difference
By Robert Sheehan
A mountain bike is particularly designed for riding on uneven and bumpy areas. Most mountain bikes have fat knobby tires, which ensure extra traction and appropriate shock absorption. A full front and rear suspension is becoming more common in the recent models of bikes meant to run on mountainous surfaces.

Modern bikers are less fond of handlebars and extensions though some bicycles under this particular variety are provided with end bars on the handlebars. Wheels of mountain bikes range from 26 to 29 inches. The larger wheels have better rolling capabilities and helps in rotational weight thereby making slower acceleration aptly possible.

The Best Varieties Of Mountain Bicycles

Enduro Mountain Bikes
The weight of Enduros vary between 30 to 35 pounds. These bikes feature greater suspension travel, say about 150mm of front and rear travel. They have been perfectly designed so as to ride the rough terrains with ease and satisfaction on the part of the rider.

Downhill Mountain Bikes
These bikes provide 8 or more inches of suspension traveling. The bodies of these bikes weigh less, which make them more apt for racing. Downhill mountain bicycles have tough construction and as they have provisions like large, high gears, they are aptly suited for riding down out-and-out downhill trails and racecourses. Most downhill riding requires high-speed movement for which these bikes are provided with one chain ring, a large bush guard and a chain guide. In fact, Downhill Mountain biking is the most popular form of competition biking.

Dirt Jumping Bike
Dirt jumping bikes come in two types, Urban and Street Mountain bikes. These bikes are variable combinations of trial bikes like, BMX bike and freeride bike. This specific bike variety is extremely strong and possesses 0 to 4 inches of front suspension. They are mostly without any rear suspension along with fast-rolling, slick and semi-slick tires

Some other significant bike forms include Cross-Country Mountain Bikes, Freeride Mountain Bikes, Trials Mountain Bikes, Single-Speed Mountain Bikes and North Shore Mountain Bikes.

Mountain Bikes – Monarchs Of The Mountains

Depending on suspension, mountain bikes can be largely classified into four different varieties:

1.Soft Tail Bikes – These are bikes with negligible rear suspension. These bikes are made active by the flex of the frames rather than the pivots

2.Fully rigid bikes – Such bikes are provided with hardtail along with firm fork system

3.Bikes having dual or full suspension – These machines on road come with front suspension fork and rear suspension along with rear shock and linkage. Such mechanisms enable the rear wheel move smoothly on pivots

Hardtail Bikes – These bike varieties have frames without any rear suspension. More often, such bikes are provided with front suspension forks

Specialized-mountain-bikes-with-style-with-solidity

The specialized mountain bikes are the ones, which are specially customized to meet the requirements of the rider. The bikes have a fundamental version, with specially customized parts and accessories. These specialized parts turn the bike even more powerful. The specialization brings more comfort to the riders, resulting in their ultimate satisfaction.

You can purchase a specialized mountain bike from a dealer or can customize it yourself by assimilating different parts. This would be possible if you are an experienced biker and is acquainted with the intricacies. However, if you are a beginner, then a basic mountain bike model without customization would be sufficient. The more the knowledge grows, the more you would be confident in using different parts all by yourself.

A specialized mountain bike is manufactured with added and better parts; the look gets improved and even more fascinating. In order to customize your own bike, you can add new paddles, brakes, gears and handlebars. You can even change the frame, suspension system or tires. The color of the bikes may also be changed, to suit your taste. However, if you are more interested in purchasing the mountain bike, then you must have the idea what parts are needed to make your ride safe and enjoyable. There is no limit to the amount you may pay for customizing your bike. However, you should be quite particular about your budget, and must keep your expenditure under control.

Processes for customization

1.Customization can be done by getting new handlebars that better suit your mountain bikes.

2.Do not run after spending too much money on buying new parts. Use a bit of intelligence in customizing your bike, and make it powerful and worthy.

3.The new parts that you will purchase, should match the bike you have.

4.You should contact the manufacturer to be in the safe side, and must check the return and exchange policies of the online and offline exchanges.

5.There is huge number of models available in the market. However, you must discreetly choose the model you exactly want.

The way to specialize bikes

There are many processes to specialize bikes. The specialization would depend on your choice of bikes, and the amount you are willing to pay. Sometimes, only the new frames cause a makeover to the bikes. A large majority

The-secret-to-enduring-allure-
By Marion Chamberlain
The fundamental law of human achievement is the law of belief. This law suggests that you always behave in a manner consistent with your beliefs.

It's actually very simple. If you believe you can ride a bicycle, you can. Even if you can't ride a bicycle, as long as you believe you can, you can; you will continually persist after falling until you can actually ride. Even though we are all capable of riding a bicycle, once you believe you can't, you simply can't!

The same logic applies to all other beliefs in our life. If you believe you can drive a car, be creative, set goals, look beautiful, become a consultant, a first rate manager at an accounting firm or an able team leader at a big software company, be able to devise a fool-proof marketing strategy, sell well, negotiate, be a leader, understand the financial implications of a business, manage your stock well, even earn millions, etc., you will actually do all these things and more.

On the contrary, if you suffer from a self-limiting belief that you just can't do it, you never will. Even if your belief may not be based on absolute fact; you simply won't be able to do it. I have witnessed this in countless women. Their negative beliefs about themselves become their biggest impediments in life.

Fact is that as long as you believe you can, you will make all the necessary efforts. You will then hang on to that belief, despite setbacks, until your beliefs become your reality --- your self-fulfilling prophecy.

Think about one thing that you absolutely can't do without. Do you believe you can have it? If not, what are your reasons? Stop, pause and analyze (but do not overanalyze) what is holding you back from unleashing the power of that dream into your life. Then do whatever is needed to realize that dream because unfulfilled dreams can be like those festering sores in our lives that will always give you pain and discomfort. They will come back to haunt you again and again, like the resurrected ghosts from an exhumed past. Get out of that situation fast and now.

Once you have identified the beliefs and assumptions that are holding you back, you can use this information to propel yourself forward on the path to your goals and inspired dreams. The key here is to just take action. This is where most of us women in America fall short. We might think we believe something, but we never take action. Who cares what others think? Just start taking steps to be yourself and let your uniqueness blossom.

Fortunately, you can use the same power of self-fulfilling prophecy that once held you back to build your confidence and extreme attractiveness factor to massively increase the likelihood of your success in everything that you want to do and accomplish in your life. So, enough of struggling with life's struggles; enough

Find-the-right-bike-rack--how-to-choose-a-bicycle-rack-to-meet-your-needs
By Timothy Rea
A good bike rack is easy to find if you know how and when you want to use the bicycle rack and understand your options and the available price ranges.

Need a good bike rack for a mountain bike, dirt bike, trick bike or other type of bicycle? Think about your needs before you shop online or go to a sporting goods store, or bike shop.

For $50.00-$100.00, you can get a two-bike rack to store your bicycles in your garage or shed. By mounting your bikes on the wall, you clear floor space and avoid damage to your bikes when they are not in use.

Bike hooks are less expensive (they are priced between $15.00 and $30.00) and some allow you to lock the bike in place to protect against theft if you are storing your bike in a common apartment store room or an open storage building. Ceiling mount bike lifts are priced between $25.00 and $50.00.

These lifts will get your bike well out of the way, and keep it safe until you want to use it again! So, instead of running over or damaging that expensive mountain bike, get yourself a good wall rack or bike hook, and use your garage floor space or storage space for other things.

You can choose from folding wall mounts, double folding wall mounts, ceiling or wall bike lifts, freestanding bike 'trees', floor to ceiling bike racks, vertical bicycle racks and many other options.

If you prefer to take your bike on the road, you have many options for car and bus racks. You can choose a tandem bike racks, or a short or long tray bicycle carrier for the roof of your car.

These are priced between $100 and $200. Bicycle racks that fasten onto the back of your vehicle and are priced from $60 to $150, depending on the number of bikes you want to carry and the quality of the rear bike carrier you select.

Hitch bike racks are priced between $120 and $225 depending on the number of bikes you want to carry. If you want to put your bike in the back of a pick-up truck, you can choose from trap or full racks that are priced from $20 to $200.

Need a bike rack for an RV or a bus? 'Tires only' bike racks are made from steel and come in standard and narrow profiles, for one, two or three bicycles. Some of these racks are
